Gaelic Football
Building on the excellent work done in our local GAA clubs, we field girls and boys football teams at the U-14 and U-16 levels. Students put their local club differences aside to form a strong bond as school teammates, and students are challenged to join the highly talented pool of players who will compete with schools across Cavan and Ulster.
We strive to be as inclusive as possible and encourage all students to join a squad regardless of their previous experience or ability. GAA coaches at St. Bricin’s place a huge emphasis on developing the skills of our national games, but we also strive to develop lifelong skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and commitment, which will benefit our students long into the future. Undoubtedly, though, the key role of the GAA programme in the school is to enhance the well-being and development of our students and provide them with lifelong memories.
Soccer
We field girls’ and boys’ soccer teams, and they are entered into regional competitions at different age groupings, while also participating in blitzes and challenge matches throughout the year. Training takes place on Wednesdays at lunchtime or after school, with many sessions being led by an FAI Soccer Coach. Students also participate in an end-of-year soccer league within the school, with the top team earning the right to play the teachers on the last day of school.
Athletics
Students get the opportunity to represent the school in both cross-country and track-and-field events at local, regional, and National levels. We have been honoured to have had some excellent athletes represent the school in many different disciplines throughout the years.
